Research Participants in Taiwan

Verified Taiwanese professionals and consumers for interviews, surveys and concept tests. Studies run in Traditional Chinese or English, recruited to your brief rather than pulled from a generic pool.

Why teams are researching Taiwan now

Taiwan is small by population and large by influence. It sits at the centre of the global semiconductor and electronics supply chain, which makes it one of the few places you can talk to hardware engineers, component buyers and manufacturing managers in real depth. On the consumer side it is wealthy, urban and early to adopt, which is why brands often test a premium positioning here before committing to larger markets.

Taiwan is not a shortcut to China, and the reverse is also true

The most expensive assumption teams make is that findings travel between the two. They do not, and the differences are practical.

Different script

Taiwan reads Traditional characters. Simplified text signals a product built for somewhere else and localised carelessly.

Different platforms

LINE dominates messaging. The apps, payment methods and marketplaces people use daily are a different set entirely.

Different vocabulary

Everyday technology terms diverge. Software, network, video and mouse all have different standard words here.

Different regulation

Data handling, consumer protection and sector rules are their own. A compliance answer from one market tells you nothing about the other.

Traditional Chinese, and the words that quietly differ

Translating into Chinese is two decisions, not one. First the script, Traditional rather than Simplified. Then the vocabulary, because Taiwan Mandarin uses different standard terms for ordinary technology words than mainland Mandarin. A survey that converts characters but keeps mainland terminology reads as slightly off throughout, and respondents notice even when they cannot say why.

We field in Traditional Chinese by default and offer English only where the audience genuinely works in it, because defaulting to English quietly selects a narrow, internationally exposed slice of the market. Voice answers are transcribed and translated for your reporting.

How we recruit in Taiwan

We recruit to your brief rather than holding a large standing panel here, which for specialist audiences is the only approach that works anywhere. Profiles we recruit for include:

Hardware & electronics engineers Manufacturing & operations managers Supply chain & component buyers Quality & test engineers Medical doctors & pharmacists Nurses & allied health Finance & accounting professionals IT & software professionals Business owners & founders Educators Consumers by category & demographic

We run dedicated recruitment for healthcare, engineering and finance and accounting audiences across every market we cover. If your brief sits outside these, tell us and we will say plainly whether it is reachable.

1

Define the audience precisely. Role, sector, seniority and the behaviour that actually qualifies someone, agreed before outreach starts.

2

Direct, targeted outreach. We go and find people who match, rather than brokering supply from someone else's list.

3

Verification. Identity, current role and employer confirmed at sign-up, so the job title is real rather than self-reported.

4

Custom screener and local incentives. Must-have criteria and disqualifiers before anyone enters, then payment in a form people here can actually redeem.

Reading Taiwanese feedback correctly

Taiwanese respondents are generally polite and reluctant to criticise directly. The result is not silence, it is agreement that means less than it appears to: scale answers cluster toward the middle and open comments stay diplomatic.

We design around it with behaviour questions rather than opinion questions, third-person framing, forced trade-offs instead of rating batteries, and asynchronous formats that remove the pressure of a live moderator. Written responses consistently come back more critical than face-to-face sessions, which is usually what you needed to hear.

Who recruits Taiwanese participants with us

Startups & founders

Validate demand, positioning and concepts with real Taiwanese users before committing a build or a launch to the market.

Hardware & electronics teams

Reach the engineers, component buyers and manufacturing managers who sit inside the supply chain, rather than guessing at how they decide.

SaaS & product teams

User interviews, usability feedback, concept and preference tests with the professional roles your product actually targets.

Market entry & expansion teams

Demand validation, localisation checks and competitive perception work, tested in Taiwan rather than inferred from a neighbouring market.

AI & data teams

Human evaluation, data annotation and model feedback in Traditional Chinese from verified professionals, not anonymous click-workers.

Agencies & consultancies

Verified Taiwanese sample and fieldwork for your client studies, with screening and quality controls handled for you.

Not sure the audience is reachable?

Send us the brief and we will tell you honestly whether we can find them in Taiwan, and how long it takes. Projects start from €399.

Frequently asked questions

Both professionals and consumers. On the professional side that includes healthcare roles such as doctors, pharmacists and nurses, engineering roles across hardware, electronics, manufacturing and quality, plus finance, IT, education and business owners. Consumer samples are recruited by category behaviour and demographics. Tell us the brief and we will say plainly whether it is reachable and how long it takes.
Not a large one, and we would rather tell you that than inflate a figure. Taiwan studies are recruited to the brief through direct, targeted outreach. For specialist audiences that is how it works everywhere anyway, because no panel holds hardware supply chain roles in useful numbers.
Traditional, always, for Taiwan. Beyond the script, Taiwan Mandarin uses different standard words for common technology terms than mainland Mandarin, so a translation that only converts characters still reads as foreign. We localise both.
For anything touching language, platforms, payment, regulation or purchase behaviour, no. The markets diverge on all of those. Findings about broad human behaviour may carry across, anything specific to how the product is used or bought will not.
In the browser on a phone or desktop, by text or by voice, with voice responses transcribed. LINE is the dominant messaging app in Taiwan rather than WhatsApp, so we field on the web by default rather than assuming a channel that does not fit the market.

Test Taiwan as its own market, because it is one

Tell us who you need to reach and we will scope it honestly, including whether the audience is quick to find or slow.
